Maes Mynan Gin came to fruition as a collaboration with Cariad Gin, our local artisan gin maker from Lixwm, which is a small Flintshire hillside country village located only 4 miles away from Maes Mynan Park!
2022 saw a bumper harvest of blackberries and apples on Maes Mynan Park. So with picking in hand, it was easy to get into the groove of foraging for the gin fruits required by Fiona and Simon at Cariad Gin, so they could turn our blackberries into ‘Maes Mynan Blackberry and Apple Gin’.
Our gin journey started over 12 months ago with the first picking of blackberries with the sole purpose of preparing samples of Blackberry Gin for a special gin evening at Maes Mynan Holiday Park.
That anticipated gin night took place on the 8th October 2022 in our log cabin office.
Our holiday homeowners were very excited at the prospect of tasting the locally foraged and distilled Maes Mynan Blackberry Gin. They weren’t disappointed!
There is another twist to the Maes Mynan Gin tale too.
Artist David Roberts from Glasfryn Gallery in Caerwys, was commissioned earlier in the year, to paint in pastels an original painting of the views across Maes Mynan Park from our office.
David’s stunning painting is hanging pride of place in our office at Maes Mynan Holiday Park, and now also adorns the bottles of Maes Mynan Gin.
Fiona of Cariad Gin also created a boxed Maes Mynan gift set, which included; artisan made blackberry gin truffles; blackberry scented candle; a 200ml bottle of Blackberry & Apple Gin and a tin of complementing Fever-Tree Aromatic Tonic.
The gin night went well and everyone who attended enjoyed a tipple or two. Fiona of Cariad Gin also took pre-orders for a range of gins and gift sets, ready for Christmas.
In addition to gin, we were lucky enough to have a sneaky preview of some new jewellery now appearing at Glasfryn Gallery in Caerwys. Lise Roberts was able to bring a range of artwork and gift ideas to the gin night to share Welsh talent with everyone who attended.
If you would like to place any gin orders, please contact Fiona at Cariad Gin on 07751514271.
And don’t forget to visit Oriel Glasfryn Gallery in Caerwys for gift and art ideas, especially as there is a coffee cart open at weekends from 11am. Glasfryn Gallery is open Wednesday to Sunday (closed Monday & Tuesday).Β
