Discover Rustic Charm at Maes Mynan Park – National Garden Open Day, 12th July 2025

Step into a world where nature, history, and community come together for a day of celebration at Maes Mynan Park. On Saturday 12th July 2025, we’re opening our gates as part of the National Garden Scheme to raise vital funds for charities — and we’d love for you to join us.

Tucked away in the heart of North Wales countryside, Maes Mynan Park offers more than just stunning views. It’s a unique setting where, parkland, serene lakes and a private sequoia woodland create the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Whether you’re a nature lover, history buff, or simply looking for a relaxing day out with a cause, our Open Garden event is set to be something truly special.

A Garden with a Story

Maes Mynan is no ordinary park. Its name harks back to the myth of Mynan the Giant, and its lands have witnessed the footprints of Welsh Princes, Tudor Kings, lords and ladies, farmers, and even industrial quarrymen. Once a sand and gravel quarry, today it’s been lovingly transformed into a breathtaking holiday park that honours its rich past while embracing a new chapter of tranquillity and beauty. You can discover more of the fascinating history of Maes Mynan Park  here.

Stroll along peaceful woodland trails, explore our lakeside walk, and meander through carefully curated garden spaces designed to enhance the natural contours of this historic landscape. Nestled amidst rolling hills, ancient trees, and big skies, it’s a place that invites you to breathe deeply and slow down.

32 Artisan & Farmers Market Stalls – A Feast for the Senses

In the spirit of supporting the National Garden Scheme’s charitable mission, we’ve brought together a vibrant collection of 32 artisan and farmers market stalls. From handmade crafts and homegrown produce to local delicacies and unique gifts, you’ll have the chance to browse, taste, and shop from some of the region’s finest makers and producers.

And all this, while you enjoy live music, refreshments, and the soothing ambience of a hidden rural gem.

Why the National Garden Scheme?

The National Garden Scheme (NGS) is a charity that opens exceptional private gardens across the UK to the public, raising funds for nursing, health, and gardening charities. Since its inception in 1927, the NGS has donated over £74 million to support vital services and initiatives.

In 2024 alone, the NGS donated £3.5 million to its beneficiary charities. These include:

  • Macmillan Cancer Support – providing specialist health care and support for people affected by cancer.
  • Marie Curie – offering care and support through terminal illness.
  • Hospice UK – championing hospice care across the UK.
  • The Queen’s Nursing Institute – supporting community nurses to deliver high-quality care.
  • Carers Trust – working to improve support, services, and recognition for unpaid carers.
  • Parkinson’s UK – driving better care, treatments, and quality of life for people with Parkinson’s.

Additionally, the NGS supports projects that promote the physical and mental health benefits of gardens, including funding for community gardening projects and training for gardeners at the start of their careers.

Supporting the NGS means contributing to a charity that, in turn, supports a multitude of other charities—a cause that embodies the spirit of giving and community.
