The sounds of the bandoneon, guitar and vocals, matched with a warm summer night at Maes Mynan Holiday Park, certainly brought a taste of Buenos Aires to Afonwen!
We couldn’t say no to Erica of Same Moon Music Productions (and Ericatessen Bistro) when she suggested a Tango music night at Maes Mynan Holiday Park during the heatwave this August.
It was a perfect night for it, as it was the hottest day of the year, which meant by 8pm it was cooling down just to the right temperature, to enjoy a live outdoor music night without jumpers!
It was a special event because we had two brilliant authentic musicians from Argentina playing and singing tango music. They were the ‘real McCoy’ and their names were Lucas De Carlo and Sergio Veloso.
Lucas played classic guitar and his grandfather’s 100-year-old Bandoneon superbly in accompaniment to the vocals of Sergio, who sang his Spanish Tango songs with such depth and meaning, it was easy to think you had been transported to Buenos Aires!
Then there were the powerful vocals of Erica! She hit her notes with such finesse, that the acoustics and vocals reverberated clearly against the backdrop of the stone walls that surrounded her and Lucas as they sang and played their music.
The clarity of the music and songs were amplified by the quality of the air and the backdrop of the outdoor setting, as the sun set and the moon rose.
As one of our holiday homeowners said:- “You couldn’t write it – the universe collided to bring all the beauty of the venue to heighten the music, making an already memorable evening, even more fantastic”.
The countryside backdrop to the Tango By Twilight music event was superb. The colours of the sunset really helped harness the magical evening setting and highlighted the wonders of a lifestyle chosen by our holiday homeowners and the community they were building for themselves.
Although there will be other live music events at Maes Mynan Holiday Park, capturing the magic of that night again, when all the stars aligned so perfectly, is unlikely. It was a very special night for everyone who attended.
That said, we are look forwarded to working with Erica and Lucas again on different music evenings. And, maybe the holiday homeowners at Misty Waters Holiday Park, would also wish to have a live music event too, which is something we can look at arranging soon.
