Galsfryn Art Gallery in Caerwys welcomed our Holiday Homeowners from Maes Mynan Holiday Park. Everyone enjoyed their trips to the Oriel Glasfryn Gallery for the special Summer Exhibition that was running throughout August – something that will happen every year.

With afternoon tea on the lawns, walking up to the Glasfryn Art Gallery from Maes Mynan Park, became a key holiday highlight for some in the hot weather, where local Chilly Cow Ice Cream was served to keep temperatures cool!

The heatwave didn’t dampen the spirits and those who ventured up to Caerwys for the exhibition, were pleased with their finds and buys.

The Glasfryn Summer Exhibition commenced on July 25th until August 29th and was set up across the purpose build new contemporary gallery and Glasfryn Hall – the home of Artist David Roberts and his wife Lise.

The exhibition was the first in Caerwys and brought together over 50 Welsh artists and a wide variety of artistic media, including paintings, jewellery, ceramics, sculpture, glass, textiles, wood & metalwork.

The Glasfryn Art Gallery Summer Exhibition was a celebration of Welsh artists’ and their response to the areas in which they live and work. Inspired by the beautiful and often stark landscapes across Wales, we were transported into changing seasons, skies, light, and culture (even climate change), in the displayed art pieces, which were created in a variety of forms, styles, materials, and techniques.

New artists joined the Summer Exhibition and included; Jenny Ford; Jan Gardner RCA RWSW; Alice Frances Jones; Aniela Jones; Gareth Jones PSA; Richard Morris; Jane Morrow; Rebecca Parrin; Jane Samuel; Ruth Thomas RCA; Valerie Thompson; Ian Rawnsley; and Roger Young. This was in addition to those who showcase regularly in the main Oriel Glasfryn Gallery.

There were also featured art works from three Ukrainian artists, who had been evacuated from Ukraine to the Llŷn Peninsula because of the war in their home country, namely:-  Roman Nedopaka, Alla Chakir and Oleksandra Davydenko.

The Glasfryn Art Gallery Summer Exhibition saw the display of art work across a range of settings, including the Hall’s Victorian drawing room & dining room, the Gardens, and the spectacular contemporary gallery space.

Although the Summer Exhibition Opening Times were Wednesday – Saturday 10 – 5pm, Sunday & Bank Holiday Monday 10am  – 4pm, the new purpose built Oriel Glasfryn Gallery is open as normal, on the same times and days every week. That means, if you didn’t make the Summer Exhibition, you still have the opportunity to discover and explore Oriel Glasfryn Gallery anytime of the year. In addition, The Horse Box Cafe will also be open at weekends, so that you can enjoy tasty homemade cakes with your tea and coffee.

Oh, and we mustn’t forget – if you would like to learn to paint in pastels, David Roberts runs art classes in his drawing room at Glasfryn Hall too!

David takes his inspiration for his art work from many places across North Wales. He has painted many scenes of Snowdonia, the Clwydian Range, Moel Y Parc and has recently undertaken a commission for us titled ‘View from Maes Mynan Park’, which is now hanging in our office at Maes Mynan Holiday Park.

We are very proud to be able to promote such a prestige Art Gallery on the doorstep of our Acorn Leisure Holiday Parks in North Wales. We wish David and Lise Roberts every success, in their representation of Welsh Artists in our historic Town of Caerwys – the smallest town with a Royal Charter in the UK.

Maes Mynan Park is a country holiday park and has much to offer holiday homeowners, including a living painting of kaleidoscope colours throughout the seasons. We believe Nature is the best artist of all!

If you would like to find out more, please come and see us and discover this hidden gem, that was once described in the 1870’s as the ‘Arcadia of Wales if not England’, for yourself. Today people prefer to refer to Maes Mynan as ‘Little Switzerland’, just as the farmers once did.

As custodians of this beautiful place, we are very much looking forward to sharing this magical place with you, especially if it is a country retreat holiday home you seek.

If you would like to book a tour, and view one of our holiday homes for sale (luxury lodges, bespoke lodges and deluxe static caravans), please get in touch. We are here. You can call or WhatsApp Peter on 07836522444 or Louise on 07917876819.
